Hunt. Fish. Feed., a unique outreach program created by Sportsman Channel, taps into an underutilized food source – game meat and fish – to feed those struggling with hunger across America. Sportsman Channel and its partners are on a mission to help end hunger, promoting an alternative solution with the help of local media outlets in the cities we serve.
In an effort to heighten awareness in the fight against hunger, Sportsman Channel launches annual tours, serving cities with the greatest homeless and poverty-stricken populations.
Paul Comes, a noted wild game chef, leads a staff of volunteers at every Hunt. Fish. Feed. event.
Hunt. Fish. Feed. is celebrating its 17th year and is proud to have served more than 42,000 meals in communities such as Baltimore, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York, Sacramento and many more.
These events garner recognition for responsible sportsmen and women who have given back to help those who are less fortunate. Outdoor Sportsman Group encourages hunters and anglers to find and help a local organization by donating meat.
Chef Paul Comes has always loved cooking, a talent he inherited from his family, which prepared everyday meals on their farm in rural Pennsylvania. Growing up in this environment, it was not uncommon to volunteer for baking, cooking, grilling at many churches, social organizations or family events. This is where he received his early sense of helping out. While Chef Paul went to college for business, he would also return home for special occasions to help in the kitchens and explore the great outdoors.
His backyard included mountains, streams and wide open spaces of nature. Chef Paul now has over thirty-plus years of practice in cooking- while sharing his love for fresh ingredients, wild game, fishes and incorporating close-to-home ingredients that he has shared in many kitchens as a common cook for venues of volunteerism along the East coast.
With regards to these cooking skills, Paul still gets excited about the goodness of food, both in nutrients and taste. Chef Paul volunteers his time cooking meals at local food banks, church gatherings and many veterans events that gives assistance to local causes and communities.
